FAQ's

Who can throw an Axe?

Almost anyone can have an Axe-cellent time throwing axes!

Participants with medical conditions and/or pregnancies should consult their physician prior to participating.

We do not have an age restriction on children, however, throwing axes requires some strength to hit a target and a bit of maturity to understand the safety rules. You know your children and their capabilities better than we do. See the Age Limit FAQ below.

Staff members have the discretion at any time to deny any individuals the opportunity to throw/continue throwing to maintain a safe environment for other throwers and that individual.

Is there an age limit?

Anyone is welcome to play!

Here at The Firehouse we have no set minimum age but ask that any potential throwers are capable of making conscious safety decisions and comply with the safety rules.

Young throwers 10-12 years old may not have the strength to throwing a 1 1/4lb axe twelve to 15 feet hard enough at the target to get it to stick, so this is entirely up to the discretion of the parent. If in doubt bring them by and talk with an Axe-pert.

However, if you are under 14 years of age, you must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who will watch (or join!) This is not a spectator sport. Trust us - everyone will want to make some wood chips fly.

Staff members have the discretion at any time to deny any individuals the opportunity to throw/continue throwing to maintain a safe environment for other throwers and that individual.

What if I am a first-time thrower?

The majority of our customers have never thrown an axe prior to their first time visiting us.

The Firehouse Urban Axe Throwing’s experienced and friendly staff has the knowledge and dedication to make sure everyone has the sharpest experience possible.

All of our Axe-perts (coaches) are terrific and will be with you every step of the way.

If you're having an Axe-cellent time let your Axe-pert know, tag them/us on social media!

You will have an Axe-pert (coach) nearby at all times. The first part of your experience is spent learning the safety rules and procedures of how to handle an axe. With proper instruction, practice and by following our guided procedures, you will be able to safely throw an axe into the target.

How Safe is Axe Throwing?

At The Firehouse Urban Axe Throwing we strive to provide both the safest and most enjoyable setting possible. Our knowledgeable and safety cognizant Axe-perts help with their supervision as well as providing safety training to every thrower prior to their first throw.

Safety is our #1 priority. We operate a very controlled environment and each guest who enters must go through our safety briefing and training session before they are allowed to participate. If any participants in the throwing lanes are not following the rules, we reserve the right to ask that guest to leave, immediately, with no refund.

Staff members have the discretion at any time to deny any individuals the opportunity to throw/continue throwing to maintain a safe environment for other throwers and that individual. Just remember – No one likes an axe-hole.

What should I wear?

Closed toed shoes are a must! Really ugly rental shoes and your own pair of brand-new socks are available on site; however, sizes and availability of sizes are limited. We charge $3.00 for rental of ugly shoes and $1.00 for purchase of your very own very plain souvenir socks.

Be comfortable and don’t wear restrictive clothing.
